FULL TIME EMPLOYMENT:  Lab Technician

Job Summary:

Blue Ridge Vision’s in house finishing lab is seeking a detail oriented individuals to help manage our Lab.  Experience is wonderful, but not required because we train on the job. Eight hour shifts fall between the hours of 8:00 am and 6:00 pm, Monday-Friday. Multi-tasking is a MUST! Full Time employment is a career position with a Benefits Package.

You may be asking yourself, what is a lab technician? 

Glasses lenses for specific prescriptions are ordered and arrive as large circular lens blanks.  The lab technician will learn how to read a lens prescription and ultimately cut the lens to fit the shape of a particular frame.  Technician’s typically run 2 machines simultaneously to achieve this production.  Maintaining the lab to the utmost optimal level of efficiency and organization is vital to success in this position.

Responsibilities & Skills include but are not limited to

Lensometry
Tracing and Edging lenses to mount in frames
Tinting sunglass lenses
Frame assembly
Frame repair
Lens ordering and Returns
Stock inventory
Product knowledge; materials, coatings, lens styles
Tracking lab production through record keeping; daily, weekly, monthly, & yearly
Cost of goods management
Reconcile invoices with monthly statements
Equipment maintenance
Maintain daily quota; make sure all orders arrive on time, notify patients of delays
Ability to multitask
Strong attention to detail
Great organizational skills
Self motivated
Ability to work individually and with peers
Ability to meantime time sensitive goals throughout the work day

 

FULL TIME EMPLOYMENT: Dispensing Optician

Job Summary:

Blue Ridge Vision is looking for fashionable, social, motivated, expeditious and detail oriented individuals. Optical, insurance and/or retail experience is a plus, but not required. On the job training is available with opportunities for growth through cross training. Eight hour shifts fall between the hours of 7:15 am and 7:00 pm, Monday-Friday. Multi-tasking is a MUST! Responsibilities & Skills include but are not limited to…

  • Assist customers in selecting and fitting eyeglasses based on prescription and individual needs
  • Take accurate measurements of customers’ eyes and facial features
  • Provide recommendations on lens options, frames, and lens coatings based on customer needs and preferences
  • Adjust and repair eyewear as needed
  • Educate customers on proper eyewear care, maintenance, lens options, coatings, and frames to help them make informed decisions
  • Process orders for eyewear and contact lenses along side coordinating with lab technicians for lens preparation
  • Bill patients for materials and file insurance claims
  • Keep the optical area clean and organized
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measurements and prescriptions
  • Previous experience in sales or retail environment is preferred

 

Qualifications

  • Retail sales experience
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and physiology
  • Previous experience in optical sales
  • Familiarity with medical coding and billing processes
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with EMR systems and Epic
  • HIPAA compliance knowledge
  • Ability to work with patients of all ages, including pediatrics
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
